I’m fascinated by people and learning how to ‘capture’ someone is proving to be the most challenging and rewarding part of my artistic learning so far.
I love the ‘puzzle’ of portraiture, where small and subtle differences can mean the difference between getting a result that captures the right balance between likeness and essence.
I am currently developing my practice through drawing, life drawing, oil painting and watercolour paintings.
As I learn my subjects are often women who inspire me or my family and friends. Self-portraits feature too as I am a free and readily available sitter! I also include animal portraits here too, since I often feel that painting a human or an animal present similar but different challenges.
