Commissions - Frequently Asked Questions

Commissioning your work can seem daunting if you haven’t done it before, with worries about cost and how the work will turn out. I love to have a good open dialogue with commission clients, so while I’ve answered some of the common questions I get asked below if you want to discuss something in particular please do contact me.

  • Yes. Although availability is limited so please contact me is you have something specific in mind.

  • All kinds of commissions are considered. Previous works have been of family members, animals and landscapes.

    One thing to note is that my art is a creative representation of your chosen subject. I am not a photorealistif artist and prefer my work to have a good representation and likeness, I prefer more creative and expressionistic outcomes. So if you prefer something that ‘looks just like a photo’ I may not be the right artist for you.

  • Because every client and work is unique, costs can vary dependent on complexity and medium chosen. To get a personalised proposal and quotation please use the Commission Request Form and I can give you your personal quotation.

    But to give you an idea a single animal portrait in acrylic paint would typically cost £250 to £300. A single animal drawing would cost less.

    Delivery is chargeable dependent on your location.

  • It’s actually quite simple! It relies on great dialogue and check ins - but in summary the process is;

    1. Complete a Commission Request Form with your request and send any references (e.g. photos) to Louise McLoughlin Art.

    2. You will then receive a written Artwork Proposal from Louise for the work, including costs and timescales for completion.

    3. You confirm in writing that you accept the Proposal or request any adjustments.

    4. You pay the deposit (50%).

    5. Work will commence after the deposit is received.

    6. Once work has commenced, I’ll check in at a ‘Early Development Stage’ with photos. At this stage, minor alterations can be made to its design content. Timelines for completion will be confirmed.

    7. Once Artwork is complete I’ll email you a photo of the finished Artwork. At this point only small changes or details can be requested.

    8. On acceptance of the finished Artwork payment for the full amount is required.

    9. On receipt of full payment you’re Artwork will be delivered by the agreed method.

    10. Enjoy your new Artwork and the gratitude of the artist for your support :-)
